Oregon Hiking Elopement in the COlumbia River Gorge

The Columbia River Gorge is the home of many iconic Oregon scenes. From tons of waterfalls to cliffs with epic views, the gorge is just spectacular. This hiking elopement was a styled shoot organized by Glamour and Grind Styled Shoots. The couple is a real married couple, but they were just modeling for this shoot and did not actually get married on this day, though it would have been epic if they did! Like most days in the gorge, there was plenty of wind and dramatic lighting! The lighting would change from dramatic and moody to intense and bright as the sun peeked through the clouds.

This hiking elopement took place at Mitchel Point, which is a short, but steep hike about 15 minutes from Hood River, Oregon and 1 hour from Portland, Oregon. Mitchel Point is a local favorite around Hood River because it’s short, close by, and promises epic views no matter what the day is like. I’ve hiked this specific hike more times than I can count, so when I heard there was a styled elopement taking place here, I jumped on it!

This hike may seem friendly due to it’s short distance of 2.6 miles, but it is not for everyone! There are cliffs on both sides and oftentimes intense winds! While this hike was great for an epic styled shoot, I wouldn’t suggest this location for an actual elopement. It’s steep cliffs are dangerous and there isn’t a lot of room to move or places to comfortably sit. If you wanted to have a short adventure session, this place is awesome though! Just make sure to bring good hiking shoes and take caution when at the top!
