This Utah Bonneville Salt Flats styled elopement was so fun! I’ve always wanted to visit Utah’s salt flats and when I heard that The Spell Society was putting on a styled shoot there, I knew I couldn’t miss it! It definitely did not disappoint! The vast beauty of the Bonneville Salt Flats is just incredible! The salt flats make for an amazing elopement location because everything is so spread out that you can really get away from other people and feel like you have your own private venue! It’s also super easy to set up an arch and/or small aisle for an intimate wedding. You can literally drive your car out onto the salt flats and find the perfect spot! This means it’s super accessible for you and any guests you want to bring.

Edgy Bonneville Salt Flats Elopement Details
This styled elopement had so many fun touches to it! From the couple’s matching jackets with beautiful handwritten calligraphy to the reflective disco balls against the stark landscape. Every detail was perfectly planned and made for a super fun and creative shoot. While styled shoots often lack real story telling, they are super helpful for creating space to try new things. You can take a lot more risks when you don’t have a paying client. In this case, I played around a lot more with harsh lighting (something I typically avoid). I was super happy with how a lot of these photos turned out despite the lighting conditions being not-ideal in some cases. After this shoot, I feel so much more excited to experiment with harsh lighting! Styled shoots are also a great way to build a portfolio in a certain location. Most couples don’t want to book a photographer who has never shot at the particular area or region where they want to elope. Having a experience and knowledge about an area is key and having the portfolio of images from the location really helps show what you can do. And lastly, styled shoots are a great way to connect and learn from other photographers. We can all bounce ideas off of each other and try things we wouldn’t try on our own. Over all this Utah Bonneville Salt Flats styled elopement shoot was a blast. I’m stoked to go back ASAP!
