Artist Point Elopement at Sunrise

Sunrise Artist Point Elopement

These two lovely humans knew wanted to elope in the North Cascades and they ultimately decided on Mt. Baker’s Artist Point area for their elopement location. Artist Point is incredibly popular for elopements and other types of shoots, because the views in every direction are spectacular and there are a lot of options for hikes with varying degrees of difficulty. In an attempt to get more privacy and have the place to themselves, they decided to elope at sunrise! Sunrise elopements definitely have their pros and cons, but overall it really is a great option for couples wanting a more intimate and peaceful experience in the mountains. On this gorgeous late-July morning it was SO quiet and peaceful. At 4:00am we met at the trailhead and started hiking up the trail under a moonlit path. It was a very chilly morning, but the clear views made up for it. Once we got to the top, they got ready in the blue hour/dawn light and then shared a first look. Then we waited for the sun to rise, took portraits in the beautiful light, and spent time shivering and laughing it off with warm coffee in thermoses. That sort of early morning experience isn’t for everyone, but it can pretty magical if you embrace the experience. The birds were singing and watching the light illuminate the mountains and valley below was so beautiful. Then before we knew it the sun came up and warmed us up. We headed back down the trail to a beautiful tarn (a small mountain lake) that we could get reflections in. Then when the moment was right, they exchanged private vows together. Overall, it was a magical morning in the mountains, with the only “con” being that it was pretty chilly in the early morning. Below are some of their preview photos!
