Rattlesnake Lake Engagement adventure Session | Seattle Elopement Photographer

Erin and Tommy embraced rain and cold for this evening winter engagement session near Seattle, WA. Rattlesnake lake and Rattlesnake ledge are both really popular locations for couples photography and even elopements. While I wouldn’t personally recommend this location for an elopement (due to the lack of privacy), it is a great spot for a couples shoot. Due to COVID-19, the Rattlesnake Ledge hike is actually closed, but you can still access the lake. There is also a paved pathway which is great for accessibility. Something to note about this location is the water level of the lake. I was shocked to see how high the water level had changed between a two week period. Take this into consideration if you have specific photo locations you’re looking for. For example, we had to bail on a couple of our intended locations because the water level was too high to get there (especially when it’s cold and you don’t want to risk falling in the water).

Despite our frozen hands, we had a blast wandering around the lake and climbing on top of stumps, swing dancing, and hiding from the rain under umbrellas. While I don’t normally use an umbrella myself, I decided to purchase some clear umbrellas for my couples who end up having a rainy photo session. I’m SO glad I decided to get these umbrellas, because they not only provide protection from the rain but they also add a really moody vibe. Getting clear umbrellas is perfect for photoshoots as well, because the light can still pass through them.

Erin and Tommy are dear friends who share such a sweet love that it just radiates off of them. I think this is pretty evident in the images and it was a joy to capture them.
